How To Create a Successful Social Media Accounts for Your Business

3 Mins read

Let’s face it, everyone has some type of social media account these days. Your grandma’s on Facebook, and your little cousin is going Snapchat crazy.

In 2020, this is perfectly normal. Moreover, as a business owner, it’s your job to figure out what platform your target market utilizes.

This means creating an array of social media accounts when you’re starting out and being active on all outlets until you can fine-tune your strategy.

If you’re new to social media or marketing in general, let’s go over some basics you need to know to create successful social accounts

The Basics—Setting Up

After you decide which social media platforms you’re going to use, go ahead, and set those accounts up. You’re going to want to make sure you set up a business account, so you can take advantage of some of those business account perks like insights, tagged posts, and paid ads.

It’s a good idea to pick a color scheme you’re going to use throughout your posts to have some uniformity. Websites like Canva are great for small businesses because they offer branding features.

This feature generates a color scheme from your logo. You can use all of this to create other marketing materials and social media posts throughout Canva.

Also, make sure to use the same logo across all platforms so customers can quickly identify your brand, and keep the same handle across platforms so people can find you.

What’s the Plan?

You’ve got your accounts set up—now what?

It’s time to create some type of plan. A plan that details how you’re going to approach your social media strategy. Some key questions you should ask yourself are as followed:

  • How many times can you realistically post a week?
  • What do you want to achieve from your social media pages?
  • Who is your target audience?
  • What kind of content will you need to produce?
  • How will you keep track of all of your posts?

As you can see, setting up and running multiple social media accounts takes a great deal of effort. However, there are things you can do to make the process move more smoothly.

Consistent Posting

The most important thing to remember is that you have to post consistently, or those dreaded algorithms you’ve heard so much about will hinder your account—only showing your content to a sliver of your following.

Many social media maintenance sites will post automatically for you. All you have to do is load your content in and let sites like Sprout Social, Later, or Hootsuite do the rest.

Engage with Your Audience

Once you have everything up and running, make sure you’re engaging with your audience. This means liking other posts, responding to comments, responding to direct messages, etc.

Furthermore, that pesky algorithm loves engagement. When the app sees you posting consistently and engaging with other users, your account will reap all of the benefits.

If you find yourself struggling with engagement, you can use several free and paid analytic tools. Also, try creating opened-ended posts that ask questions or generate some type of response from your followers.

Create a Blog

When you add a blog to your site, you open a whole new path of organic traffic. This is especially true if you research SEO keywords and sprinkle them throughout your blog piece.

Blog posts also make for great content to post to your social media accounts. Not on;y does it provide another source of content, but it gives your business more validity.

So when people think about your particular niche, you stand out as a knowledgeable source. If you decide to add the blog, make sure you adopt a blogging schedule you can keep up with.

Paid Ads Work

Don’t be afraid to take risks—it takes money to make money.

In this case, we’re referring to paid advertising. There are several approaches you can take towards paid advertising. Still, for social media, Facebook advertising (Facebook and Instagram) is relatively easy to use.

It’s excellent for improving your brand’s awareness and building a following online. Once you start researching different advertising paths, you’ll be able to see which one is best for your business.

Parting Thoughts

Social media is a massive part of our society.

As a business owner, it’s a shame if you’re missing out on all of the exposure and opportunities it provides. Taking on digital marketing on top of all of your business duties can get stressful.

If you find yourself getting overwhelmed, take a moment, breathe, and gather your thoughts. Take it one step at a time and create daily lists to keep productivity on track. If you still need help relaxing, give CBD a try.
