Arteta Hopes to Add More Players to the Team

2 Mins read

Mikel Arteta is reportedly looking for players to add to his slumping team in hopes of boosting their defense and midfield. The Arsenal boss, however, does not expect the team to make moves in the January transfer window.

Arteta is hoping that the team will make some moves to give him some options in his lineup. Arsenal has been plagued with injuries and is struggling to stay alive in the Premier League table despite being far from relegation.

Arteta said that they need a box-to-box midfielder and a defender in the first-team squad. The team has spent a lot of cash in the last summer market but has failed to qualify in the Champions League.

The club has less money left to come up with a deal in the January window. Loan deals are rumored to be the best option for the team as compared to permanent transfers. Whichever option they settle on, bringing new players into the team will give a greater opportunity to gamers on reputable sites such as Sportsbet.io. However, you need to be keen on the source link you access online whenever you want to bet to avoid scammers.

Arteta says that he is not expecting the team to make moves, but he is open to suggestions if the team does consult him. He will have to do with what he has in his pockets right now.

‘I’m not expecting big things. I’m expecting big things from the players I have at the moment, the players that are recovering from injuries’, said Arteta. ‘That’s the biggest expectation from my side, they’re there. If we can find something to help us go through the season in a more balanced way in certain areas, and it is helpful, we’ll look at the options’.

Calum Chambers’ long-term injury has hurt the team’s current lineup, and that limited the team’s options at center-back. Arsenal’s Konstantinos Mavropanos is set to leave on loan this month as the team is mulling offers for Shkodran Mustafi.

‘We always have to be looking because obviously, Arteta added. “We have some bad injuries for players who are going to be out for a long time. We have to see if we can find options there’.

Young players such as Emile Smith Rowe and Tyreece John-Jules are leaving the team on-loan within the month as well. The club is set to make a decision in Eddie Nketiah’s contract as the striker makes his return to the team after being on-loan at Leeds United.

Nketiah could prove to be an effective addition should the team consider his services, but it will not be Arteta’s call as he went on to talk with the highly-rated striker.

‘I sat down with him and was very impressed with him’, Arteta said of Nketiah. ‘I think it was a great challenge for him to work in that environment in Leeds. I think he has become a much better player, a much more competitive player’.

‘The decision to make now is whether it’s better to send him out for another five months to realize his potential and have him ready for next season, or keep him here. It’s something we have to discuss in the next few days’, Arteta added.
