How to Wear a Lace Front Wig

4 Mins read

A lace front wig gives a simple front look to a wig using, glue, double-sided tapes, or other adhesive. This particular wig makes your natural hair look like it is growing out of your head. It makes you look more glamorous and you will also look trendy.

You can put on this type of wig almost a month before changing it. You should try one to feel the experience and also look good. Platforms like SVT Hair are known for their lace front wigs.

What Is Lace Front Wig?

One of the best human hair wigs, it is a thin translucent mesh with hairs woven into it, creating the impression of a completely natural head of hair. Like the Brazilian virgin hair, the hairline on the forehead looks exactly like the real thing!

 “Lace” wigs are divided into:

  • full (the base is completely mesh, uniform) – this is an option for those who have their own thin and sparse hairline;
  • with stretch lace (another stretch mesh is attached to the back of the head) – this stretch pocket is designed to hide your hair. Only the anterior and temporal zones are fixed, the occipital remains mobile;
  • products with a mesh only in the front – the rest is tress or tambour.

An elongated mesh is more common in the film industry and theater – its supply is necessary for the most reliable fixation of someone else’s hair on the actors’ heads. After all, they have to actively move and perform various tricks. The width also varies – from temple to temple or a small element that creates the illusion of a natural parting.

Why You Should Try Wearing a Lace Wig

  • Regular wigs often have unnatural bangs. Or you have to create it to hide the artificial look. In the lace wig, bangs are not necessary, everything looks completely natural.
  • Strands can be lifted, combed back and sideways.
  • It is easy to assemble the bundle – its “non-native” origin will not be noticeable.

How to Put on a Lace Wig

When placing a lace frontal wig on your head, you must do the process carefully so that the adhesive and the wig itself will not cause damage to the scalp and hair. Putting on a lace front wig could be a bit of a hassle and can take time. No experience is needed but proper handling is necessary. Here is how to go about it:

Preparing Your Hair

To start the process, clean the hair and forehead, and then make a flat surface on the head, at the edges where the wig will be put on. It is important to flatten the hair before wearing a wig. You can achieve this with galvanized pads or using wig covers. A wig cap may come in handy if you want to completely flatten your hair. Try to tuck in all your hair under the wig cap. You can leave two wicks free at the front of the head to achieve a more natural rendering: You can use them to hide the wig cord edges.

Try to place the lace front wig on your head (without adhesive) to determine the right angle where you will put the lace at. Measure the appropriate size of the lace you want to use. Cut out the parts where you think it is excessive. Be careful in reducing some of your excessive hairs lace. You just cut out the parts that you think you really don’t like.

Apply Adhesive

Fold the front of your wig back to the desired area. Apply the adhesive on the forehead. Next, place the front of the wig on the adhesive that you have applied to the forehead. Press the wig firmly to hold it in place. You must be very careful when applying the glue, especially the area around the ears and the nape of the neck.

Apply wig glue and wipe your skin with cotton dipped in an antiseptic solution to get rid of impurities (this makes the glue stick firmly). You should then apply a little moisturizer around the scalp area to minimize irritation. After that, you can use a small makeup brush to put glue around the scalp. You should know there are different glue types: Pick the one that is ideal for your skin (dry, oily, sensitive, etc..) before leaving it to dry for a few minutes.

Use a little pressure to secure the lanyard so it will stay on your head. When you’re done, wipe the excess adhesive off the head. You can buy these lace front wigs from stores of all kinds. They usually come in a kit. The kit consists of the wig, the adhesive that can be used, some cutting tools for the wig, and the instruction guide on how to use the wig.

Lower the Wig

Get your lace wig out of its wrap and gently shake it. Place it on your head before swapping it. This makes the laces overrun the glue. This part may take a bit of practice, so don’t hesitate. After dropping the wig, press the edge gently downwards with a comb. You should ensure that the lace is smooth (Natural) and let it dry for about 10 to 15 minutes. Apply some serum to the remaining part of your hair and leave it to blend in with your wig.

Do Lace Front Wigs Damage Your Hair?

Some people use double-sided tapes or adhesives for a better hold of the wig or for the lace front to be correctly placed. This may be necessary when the wig is of poor quality or is not the right size. Biological hair damage can occur when you apply those adhesives or tapes to the top of your natural hairline and do not use the proper products to remove the adhesive and be able to remove the wig.

Not all wigs need adhesives or double-sided tapes to make them perfect you should be careful when using this product; They are cumbersome, they can cause skin irritations and even hair loss (if you have one).
