This article will debunk the common misconception that dropshipping is a get rich quick scheme or that dropshipping is a scam. Nothing in this life comes for free and dropshipping is no exception – if you want to make money, then there is no way around doing the proper research, especially shopify product research. For that reason, it is imperative that you learn how to drive traffic to your shopify store.
Any drop shipper will freely admit that it would be a far superior financial choice for a customer to buy a hoodie on Amazon with two-day shipping for a fraction of the price compared to what they would pay for it on free keep it and so what do people say to that? Oh, the customer can get it cheaper elsewhere quicker and that makes your store a scam? Nope. It does not. That’s like saying that more expensive oberlo alternatives are a scam, just because they’re charging more and are typically inferior to Oberlo.
Firstly, if it weren’t for your Facebook ad the customer would never have known about that product that they really enjoy in the first place. People really love this hoodie:
and they’re really grateful that it was advertised to them and they bought it you had to pay for that advertising to do that, which you pass on to the customer. Amazon doesn’t advertise products, customers have to find them themselves.
Secondly, as an entrepreneur, you are in no way obligated to offer your product for the lowest price. You might often find two coffee shops around the corner from each other or across the road from each other. Let’s say hypothetically you buy from both coffee shops but the first one is for $3, whilst the second one for 4$. The first one turned out to be much better and for a lower price – is the second one a scammer for offering an inferior product for a higher price?
Definitely not, your experience is entirely subjective. Moreover, it’s for the customer to decide whether they want to pay the asking price or not. If you can sell the same hoodie for twice the price, whilst being upfront about the shipping times, then you totally deserve that sale!
Most People Who Drop Ship Will Fail.
It is true, statistics don’t lie, close to 99% of people will fail at dropshipping and a lot of the times that happens because they fail to product research shopify. You might think that with such a high failure rate, why would you want to start a dropshipping business?
I would tell you is that the main reason why 99% of people fail is extremely avoidable and really easy to not do yourself because I’ll tell you this now the main reason why 99% of people fail is not that they don’t have enough knowledge about Facebook ads. In the internet video age, we are swimming in knowledge. We are practically drowning in it at this point.
What that 99 % of people are missing is the knowledge that you gain through going through the learning curve of actually marketing your products to consumers. Real talk: You cannot bypass this, there is absolutely no guru that you can follow that will allow you to somehow bypass this.
Let me ask you a question: If you read 5 books on being a barista after never having made a coffee in your life. Do you think that you would make the perfect latte on your first day on the job? Nope. And if you read five books on cooking after never having cooked meal in your life, will your first dinner be a fine-dining Masterpiece. Nope.
I am sure that everybody reading this article agrees that if you want to cook, it doesn’t matter how many books you read you need to practice and make many meals before you get good. So why on Earth then do people think that there is some formula that some Guru can teach them that will mean that they can get really good at marketing fast, without having to put an experience actually doing it.
Every day I see so many people that seemed to be searching for that. But that’s not how it works. Sure reading those books will definitely help you make tasty meals and faster, but none of them is a replacement for The Real World experience gained from actually cooking. Run ads, see how people interact with your ads in your niche, make changes based upon how people interact with them and you know, what every single person’s learning curve is going to be unique to them.
Most people want fast easy money, not to actually learn how to make real money. And so when they don’t get it fast, they usually do the one thing that guarantees are 100 percent failure rate and that is giving up. So if you don’t want to be part of that 99 % failure rate, that’s fine. Don’t come and ask questions like is $200 enough to invest is that enough money for me to start making money. Or asking questions like: How long is it going to take me to make money. Is it going to take me two weeks? Is it going to take me three weeks? I can even wait for weeks as fine if it’s going to take four weeks. No, don’t ask those questions.
Instead, ask yourself the question that 1% who have success ask themselves. Am I willing to invest the time and money that I need in order to overcome the learning curve of marketing and sales, learn from my mistakes and ultimately be successful? Am I willing to do what it takes for me to succeed?
